According to officials and state media reports, torrential rains have wreaked havoc across the outskirts of Beijing and the surrounding Hebei province, China’s leading wheat and Corn Belt. Entire villages have been submerged, homes collapsed, and roads washed away. During authoring of this article, the rains had resulted in at least 30 deaths.
