Squash, baseball-softball, lacrosse and flag football are the other games that were included. Cricket was played last in 1900 at the Olympics, however the bat-and-ball game is widely a part of several international sports tournaments like Asian games and Commonwealth games. The game has its history of as early as 17th century but officially was recognized in 1909 when International Cricket Council was founded globally. Today, India is one of the countries that enjoys watching and playing cricket at a massive level. India is currently on the rank 1 in ICC Twenty 20 rankings with 16137 points followed by England with 11133 points and New Zealand with 13534 points. India has won Cricket world cup twice, in 1983 and 2011 whereas was runners-up in 2003.

BCCI’s new pay equity policy eradicates gender discrimination in cricket in India

3 mn readBoard of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken an important decision of filling gender pay gap between men and women’s. It announced that from now on, contracted women cricketers will be paid same match fees as of male cricketers. Declaration of new pay equity policy is the first ever introduced by the organization to balance out odd and evens in the field of bat ball. Indian cricket players applauded the consideration and welcomed it unanimously. Indian former Sachin Tendulkar is an international cricketer and tweeted regarding the same. ‘Cricket has been an equalizer in many ways. This s a welcome step towards gender equality in the game and erasing discrimination from the sport. Very happy with the decision taken by BCCI and brilliant to see India paving the way forward’, it said.

5 mn readd (NZ) cricket team arrived in Pakistan in September after 18 years to play a cricket series containing 3 one-day internationals (ODIs) in Rawalpindi and Five T-20 matches in Lahore.  Unfortunately, the NZ team refused to play the series due to security threats on September 19, 2021, just as the first ODI was due to start in Rawalpindi.
