A Critical Analysis of Doublethink Lab’s Misinformation Report

Posted in News

4 mn readPresident Tsai Ing-wen of the Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan submitted her PhD thesis entitled Unfair Trade Practices and Safeguard Actions to the London School of Economics (LSE) library in June 2019, 35 years after it was due. The thesis was not only missing from the LSE library, but the school now says it does not know who her thesis examiners were. Tsai refused to release the oral examination viva report, keeping the controversy alive. Although Tsai survived the controversy and won re-election in 2020, the issue remains in ROC and UK courtrooms with a criminal defamation prosecution and several Freedom of Information lawsuits. The thesis controversy and its influence on the 2020 election have been the subject of several academic papers and studies, including a report titled Deafening Whispers by Doublethink Lab in Taiwan.
