First warded in 2021, it is a global environment award that presents the prize to five people each year for their contribution in conserving the environment. The plan is to run the award ceremony till 2030, annually. It is presented by Royal Foundation, a UK based independent charity that is formed for the prime reason to advocate against cruel nature of human beings towards planet earth. Attended by Prince William, and other famous personalities, it has big name trustees too behind it such as Jacinda Ardern, Chirstina Figueres, Jason Knauf, Jean Christophe Gray and others.

Treaty for protection of High seas has been agreed upon by countries after 20 years of negotiations

The treaty briefly deals with the conservation of marine life and high seas. It was difficult to assemble countries on a single deal but ultimately the goal is achieved, said information. The conference President Rena Lee of Singapore in a statement said, ‘In Singapore, we like to go on learning journeys, and this has been the learning journey of a lifetime. The success is also yours’. She thanked delegates for their commitment and dedication.

India adapting Urban Farming at state level is a major step to promote green drive

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that administration was planning to push ‘Urban Farming’ campaign with a motive to encourage residents of the capital to do farming on their rooftops, kitchen or balconies. According to the administration, the initiative will not only increase green areas but will also provide green jobs. Residents will get training and support from 40 master trainers in agricultural awareness workshops alongside Industry partners will also conduct 600 entrepreneurship training programs for 15,000 people for better understanding and scope. The whole action plan will be represented by environment committees that are NGOs, RWAs, environment activists, MLAs and councilors.

Implemented in every corner from 1st July, items under ban radar are plastic sticks of balloons, flags, candy sticks, ice cream sticks, plates, cups, glasses, polystyrene, straws, trays, knives, earbuds, packaging or wrapping material around invitation cards, sweet boxes, cigarette packets, plastic or PVS banners of less than 100 microns and stirrers. The news came after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an event in India on World Environment Day.

According to a press release of Green Grids Initiative- One sun One world One grid Northwest Europe Cooperative event by Press Information Bureau (News agency of Government of India) released on 13th October 2021, ‘The idea for the One sun One world One grid (OSOWOG) initiative was put forth by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, at the First Assembly of the International Solar Alliance in October 2018. He had called for connecting solar energy supply across borders. In May 2021, the United Kingdom and India agreed to combine forces of the Green Grids Initiative and the One sun One world One grid initiative and jointly launch GGI-OSOWOG at the COP26 (Climate Change Conference) summit being hosted by the UK at Glasgow in November 2021’.
