Posted in News2 mn readThe former White House National Security Advisor and Chairman of the Global Taiwan Institute (GTI)’s US-Taiwan Relations Task Force, Robert O’Brien, visited Taiwan from March 20 to 24. During a press conference held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, O’Brien suggested that Taiwan should follow the example of Eastern European countries and train civilians to use weapons like the AK-47 rifle to deter the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from invading Taiwan. “When a million Taiwanese are armed with AK-47s to defend their homeland, the CCP leadership may reassess their plans to invade Taiwan,” O’Brien said.
