3 mn readIndia’s leading wrestlers have accused Chief of Indian wrestling body, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment. Associated with Bhartiya Janta Party, he is also member of the Lok Sabha since 2014. Court heard petition by top wrestlers against Brij Bhushan over allegations made by several female athletes of sexual abuse. The protest started in January in Delhi but was later called off after the administration promised to look into the matter. But it restarted at Jantar Mantar, when police denied registering the case. The matter initially was picked up by Delhi Women Commission, when Chief Swati Maliwal visited them and showed disappointment towards administration and Delhi police.

Colombians call for an end to police sexual violence against women amid massive protests

4 mn readThe Colombian government is under pressure to investigate allegations of police sexual violence and excessive use of force against demonstrators. Colombian prosecutors and the ombudsman’s office have confirmed 23 reports of sexual violence committed by ESMAD, or Mobile Anti-Disturbance Squadron — out of 106 reports of violence against women and people with diverse sexual orientation and gender identity. The United Nations and the European Union warned of the violent militarized response and urged calm. An EU spokesperson said, “We condemn the deaths of all the people who have been killed during those protests.”
