CNN CEO Signals Changes for the Cable News Network

< 1 mn read

When Chris Licht was hired as CNN’s CEO, he found the network was struggling to keep viewers after Donald Trump left office. With roughly 700,000 viewers nightly, the company is anticipated to have profits drop below $1 billion.

Some changes, such as the firing of Brian Stelter and the shutdown of CNN+, have already been implemented. In a recent editorial meeting call, Licht told participants, “I want to acknowledge that this is a time of significant change, and I know that many of you are unsettled. There will be more changes, and you might not understand it or like it.”

In a May letter to employees, Licht signaled a philosophical change and wrote, “First and foremost, we should, and we will be advocates for the truth.”
