Narendra Modi is about to finish his second term of service as Prime Minister of India and is all set for the upcoming election in 2024. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already declared arrival of Bhartiya Janta party in power for the third time. He said the BJP-led NDA will form government again in 2024 and Narendra Modi will become Prime Minister for a third consecutive term. Party completed 9 years successfully at the Centre and is eagerly waiting for the next election. Meanwhile, leaders of opposition parties are coming together for coming political race in hope of an alliance, however a strong opposition with a potential candidate against BJP still seems hopeless.
Since Rahul Gandhi, leader of the opposition Indian National Congress party was disqualified as a parliament member after convicted on a charge of defamation against Prime Minister lead splintered opposition to unite. Unlike BJP, parties are lacking connection with people, public presence and public relations. As per the experts, with weak communication, other leaders are risking their political careers whereas BJP is loudly visible in this game. Focusing only on criticizing, political parties such as Congress, NDP and BSP are sinking with extensive experience of engaging.
Expert Dhara Bishnoi said, ‘Today, country has witnessed the shift from the politics of casteism, corruption, dynasty to development, unity, nationalism and growth. And the whole credit goes to current administration. They have engaged their party workers in correct side of politics. The manifesto this administration believes in, is coming to reality and is only better for citizens’. According to a report released by America’s Global Investment bank, Morgan Stanley, India has changed under the leadership of Narendra Modi. ‘India has changed within less than a decade. It is completely different from what it was in 2013. In a small period of 10 years, India has positioned itself according to the order of the world. Today, India is all set to play a significant role in Asia and Global growth’, it said.
Dhara commented on the report and told EAT news, it is a visible change that whole world is watching. ‘Well if you look it this way, infrastructure and digital transaction has become a huge contributor in bringing the major change. In last 8 years, Infrastructure has gone up briefly in projects like national highways, broadband subscribers, railroad electrification and renewable energy. Digitization of banks, transactions, apps like Google pay, Paytm that has made easier and advanced for everybody around including rural areas. Apart from it, appointed leaders are putting India very differently at global platforms. Independent with a strong stand’, she said. She also added that Defense industry is growing rapidly currently.
Report mentioned significant changes such as supply side policy reform, formalization of economy, real estate (regulation and development) act, direct transfer to banks, insolvency and bankruptcy code, focus on FDI and multi-national companies. Constant increase in GST collection became the reason of fastest growing economy. Dhara believes, domestic projects helped the country to refurbish as a whole. She said, ‘Our poverty rate has fallen 1% and remained static at 0.8% which means it is reduced to 10% from 22%. Primary schools have built in numbers. According to the statistics, in the last 70 years 637,000 schools were constructed but under Modi administration 653,000 schools have built so far. Foreign reserves increased to two fold whereas our per capita income has doubled. In medical sector, 15 new All India Institute of Medical and Sciences have been sanctioned out of which 10 are functioning and 5 are still under construction.’ India is developing in every sector rapidly with available resources, she added.
Hindustan Times reported, ‘In 2012-2013 our food grain production was 255 million tonnes which increased to 316.06 million tonnes in 2021-22, the highest ever in our history. India managed to clock a record in merchandise exports at $418 billion in the last financial year, despite pandemic halted economy worldwide.’ Dhara called it another growing sector. She said, ‘Along with food grain production, animal husbandry, dairying and fisheries are also witnessing growth. Livestock, forestry & logging and fishing & aquaculture are gradually becoming sectors of robust growth and a potential source of better farm incomes, mentioned by Public Information Bureau. Data is stating facts that country is actually growing, specifically each sector’, she said.
With global recognition and appreciation, India has changed its image in a less period of time. Statistics are strongly voicing the development. But issues like women safety, discrimination, unemployment, religious freedom frequently gets raised by activists and opposition. Protest by wrestlers is a recent instance of a threat to women safety. No official statement has been released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yet. While Modi administration is busy with G20 and other foreign visits, opposition is trying to form a capable alliance.
